The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the deployment of Commissioner of Police Fidelis Ogarabe as the new Commissioner of Police in Enugu State.
Ogarabe is among four senior police officers posted to different state commands following interviews conducted by the commission to assess their professional competence, character and suitability for their new responsibilities.
His deployment is particularly notable because of his previous service in Enugu, where he worked as Chief Security Officer to former Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.
Before the latest posting, Ogarabe served as Commissioner of Police at the INTERPOL Annex in Lagos.
The PSC announced the postings at its headquarters in Abuja, where the commission’s chairman, DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu, represented by board member, retired Justice Paul Adamu Galumje, said the appointments were made in accordance with Section 215(1)(b) of the 1999 Constitution.
Argungu said the four officers were found worthy in learning and character following the interviews.
He charged them to remain impartial, uphold professionalism and meet the expectations of their respective offices.
Other officers deployed include CP Sunday J. A. Okoebor, posted to Plateau State; CP Sheikh Mohammed Danko, assigned to Nasarawa State; and CP Johnson Ayodeji Babalola, deployed to Ondo State.
Ogarabe’s return to Enugu, this time as the state’s police commissioner, comes with expectations of stronger security operations, effective crime prevention and improved collaboration between the police and other security agencies.
His previous experience in the state and exposure to international law enforcement coordination are expected to provide useful institutional insight as he assumes leadership of the Enugu State Police Command.
