RT. Hon Toby Okechukwu, Executive Director, Projects, SEDC, and former Deputy Minority Leader, House of Representatives will take the centre stage as the people of Oji River Local Government Area are set to host a major event, aimed at attracting investors, thereby improving the local economy.
The Oji River Economic and Development Summit will take place on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at the Oji River Local Government Council Headquarters, starting at 9:00 a.m.
It is expected to bring together, according to Agbalanze Chike Madueke, chairman of the Summit, “government, community and religious leaders, financial institutions, policymakers, business leaders, industrialists, entrepreneurs, academics, civil society, media, women and youth associations, non- governmental organizations, and, indeed, all the people of Oji River Local Government Area and beyond, to chart a new course for economic growth and development of Oji River Local Government Area.”
Primed for a star presentation, the Director of Projects at the South East Development Commission (SEDC), RT Hon Toby Okechukwu has been invited as a Guest Speaker on the topic “South East Development Commission: Opportunities for Oji River Local Government Area.”
It is expected that he will use His vast knowledge and experience to chronicle uncommon and useful ideas that if and when implemented, will move Oji River forward, to greater heights.
The summit, which is organised by the Oji River Economic and Development Committee, with support from the local government council and other groups, will also attract other notable speakers, such as Dr. Sam Ogbu Nwobodo, CEO, Enugu State Investment Development Authority, Chief Vin Martin Ilo, CEO, Signature Television, and Hon. Barr Chimaobi Patrick Okorie, Commissioner for Lands and Economic Development, Enugu State, among others.
Rt. Hon. Toby Okechukwu, a former ranking federal lawmaker, is known for his strong passion, interest and commitment to the growth of the South East region. As a former member of the National Assembly and now a key leader at SEDC, he has supported many transformative projects, including the ongoing multi billion naira Dam project, Police Secondary School, and Federal College of Fishery and Marine Technology, located at Ugbo community, in Awgu Local Government Area, that will definitely change forever, the fortunes of Mbanabo area of Awgu Local Government Area in particular and Enugu State in general.
His presence at the summit, no doubt, will further strengthen his continued unwavering commitment to the progress of communities in lOji River, where he has, long before now, invested heavily on infrastructure, health and education.
