Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo, has presented a detailed second-term agenda that centers on smart urbanization, digital healthcare expansion, and significant infrastructure development, as part of his re-election campaign ahead of the November 8 gubernatorial polls. In a press release issued by his Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, Soludo expressed his determination to build upon the achievements of his first term while pushing forward with strategic projects aimed at transforming Anambra into a modern, green, and economically vibrant state.
A major highlight of the proposed agenda is the development of the Anambra Mixed-Use Industrial City (AMIC), which is expected to drive economic growth and support a more sustainable and organized urban environment. According to Aburime, these initiatives are designed not only to modernize urban life but also to boost the state’s economy and support environmental sustainability.
In the area of healthcare, the governor plans to enhance the state’s capacity through the construction of a world-class Oncology Centre, responding to the growing incidence of cancer in Nigeria. This facility will complement ongoing efforts in telemedicine by making digital health consultations accessible across both urban and rural communities, thereby improving health outcomes and accessibility.
Transportation is also a key focus of Soludo’s second-term blueprint. The unveiling of the Anambra Transport Masterplan includes ambitious projects such as the development of a state rail network, Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) systems, dualised roads, and digital ticketing solutions. These initiatives aim to improve mobility, increase economic efficiency, and lower environmental impact through reduced carbon emissions.
Furthermore, the government is looking to tap into Anambra’s tourism potential by turning natural attractions like the Ogbunike Caves, Agulu Lake, and Owerre-Ezukala Waterfalls into well-managed eco-tourism hubs. The soon-to-open Marriott Hotel in Awka is also expected to bolster tourism and business travel in the state.
On the educational front, Soludo’s administration plans to launch a robust bursary program to ensure all students, regardless of background, have access to quality education and opportunities for youth empowerment. Aburime emphasized that this second-term vision is more than a pledge of continuity—it represents a bold commitment to propelling Anambra into a new era of innovation, development, and inclusive progress.
