Three Passengers Arrested for Disruptive Behavior on Air Peace Flight from London

Security personnel at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos detained three passengers on Wednesday for causing a disturbance aboard an Air Peace flight arriving from London. The individuals in question—Adedigba Adewale, Ashibogu Magnus, and Iwonze Benjamin—were accused of engaging in unruly conduct that jeopardized the safety of the aircraft, its crew, and fellow passengers.

According to reports, the incident occurred mid-flight when Adewale and Magnus, who were originally seated in Economy Class, moved to the Business Class section without authorization. Despite repeated instructions from the flight crew to return to their assigned seats, both passengers refused to comply, escalating tensions onboard.

Air Peace’s Head of Corporate Communications, Dr. Ejike Ndiulo, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Thursday. The airline revealed that efforts to manage the situation peacefully were unsuccessful as the individuals remained defiant. Furthermore, the airline disclosed that the passengers were openly consuming a bottle of rum they had brought onboard, further fueling their disruptive behavior. Benjamin later joined them in both drinking and disorderly conduct, aggravating the situation.

Recognizing the potential threat posed by their actions, the flight’s captain made multiple announcements from the cockpit, urging compliance. However, as the passengers continued their unruly behavior, the crew alerted Nigerian security agencies ahead of the aircraft’s arrival. Upon landing, law enforcement officials were already on the ground to apprehend the individuals, who were taken into custody for further investigation.

Air Peace reiterated its firm stance against disruptive behavior, emphasizing its commitment to ensuring passenger safety and strict adherence to international aviation standards. The airline assured the public that it would not tolerate any actions that compromise flight security.

Commending its crew for their professionalism in handling the incident, Air Peace stated that their swift response helped prevent a more serious escalation. Authorities have since launched an investigation, and legal proceedings against the detained individuals are expected to follow.
