Tinubu Approves Redeployment of Four Permanent Secretaries to Boost Civil Service Efficiency

President Bola Tinubu has authorized the reassignment of four Federal Permanent Secretaries as part of a broader initiative to revamp the Federal Civil Service. The federal government explained that this move is designed to enhance the effectiveness and overall performance of public service delivery.

The announcement was made by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Esther Walson-Jack, in a statement released by Mrs. Eno Olotu, Director of Information and Public Relations at the Office of the Head of Service, on Tuesday in Abuja. According to Walson-Jack, the redeployments are in line with the Tinubu administration’s “Renewed Hope Agenda,” and aim to foster innovation, improve operational processes, and better align civil service efforts with current national objectives.

The reshuffling affects the following officials: Dr. Mary Ogbe will now serve in the Ministry of Regional Development, having been moved from the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development. Mr. Faruk Yabo, previously at the Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, has been reassigned to the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development. Additionally, Dr. Emeka Obi has been transferred from the Ministry of Budget and Economic Development to the Ministry of Petroleum Resources. Mr. Ogbodo Nnam, who was formerly stationed in the Special Duties Office under the Head of the Civil Service, has now been assigned to the Ministry of Information and National Orientation.

Walson-Jack emphasized that the redeployment is a standard administrative measure aimed at revitalizing the civil service. She encouraged the Permanent Secretaries to leverage their expertise and contribute meaningfully to their new ministries, ensuring smooth transitions and enhanced service efficiency. She further directed that all handover activities be finalized by May 2.

In her remarks, the Head of Service reaffirmed the federal government’s resolve to develop a world-class civil service characterized by professionalism and a commitment to national progress.
