Chairman, Enugu State Council of Traditional Rulers and other traditional rulers from across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones converged in Abuja for discussions with the Senate Committee on Establishment. The talks, spearheaded by His Excellency Senator Simon B. Lalong, centered on a proposed bill to enshrine the role of traditional rulers in the nation’s constitution.
The delegation was led by His Royal Highness King Dr. Apollus Chu (OFR), Chairman of the Interface Committee of the National Council of Traditional Rulers. A respected custodian of culture and tradition, King Dr. Chu emphasized the necessity of recognizing traditional rulers in the constitution as key partners in governance, unity, and grassroots development.
Among the distinguished members of the delegation was the revered Igwe Ogadagidi of Edem Ani Ogwugwu Ancient Kingdom. As the Chairman of the Enugu State Council of Traditional Rulers, former Chairman of the South-East Council of Traditional Rulers, and a Board of Trustees member for the Council of Traditional Leaders of Africa (Nigeria Chapter), Igwe Ogadagidi brought vast experience and influence to the discussions.
