UNIZIK Dismisses Female Student for Attacking Lecturer During TikTok Recording

Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) in Awka has expelled a female student, Goddy-Mbakwe Chimamaka Precious, following her involvement in an altercation with a lecturer from the Department of Theatre and Film Studies. The university’s decision came after an extensive review by the Student Disciplinary Committee, which determined that her actions were a severe violation of the institution’s code of conduct.

The incident that led to Precious’ expulsion reportedly took place while she was filming a TikTok video on campus. During the recording, Dr. Chukwudi Michael Okoye, a lecturer from the department, approached her and requested that she delete the video. Precious refused to comply and, in response, assaulted the lecturer.

Following the investigation, the university’s Acting Vice-Chancellor reviewed the committee’s findings and concluded that the student’s behavior constituted gross misconduct. In accordance with the institution’s disciplinary regulations, particularly Regulation 4 (SDR), the university approved the recommendation for her immediate expulsion.

A formal notice issued to Precious stated that the decision was final and effective immediately. She was directed to vacate the university premises without delay and return any school property in her possession.

This expulsion underscores UNIZIK’s strict policies on student discipline and reinforces its commitment to maintaining order and respect within the academic community.
