——– Says there is a need for a balanced and responsible approach in communicating government activities to the public.
A media Strategist and member Tomorrow is Here Movement, Enugu State, Hon. Reuben Onwuka cautioned that government information should not be disseminated from a standpoint of confrontation or hostility
Onwuka made this known while speaking on a topic “ Inauguration of Tomorrow is Here Movement, Enugu East Senatorial Zone: A Post Mortem,” on Freedom Square, a programme on Solid FM, 100.9, anchored by Uchenna Cyril Anioke.
According to him, “ be diplomatic. Those that have passed through civil service and are trained in media practice, they disseminate information and handle things on the standpoint of diplomacy. Letting people know how it is, you use facts available to you to engage people not to attack. Because this government do not believe in propaganda. I always preach diplomacy and not confrontations.”
He emphasized that public communication must aim to enlighten, engage, and build trust between the government and the people rather than incite misunderstanding or conflict.
He noted that constructive communication helps foster transparency and accountability while maintaining respect for the institutions of governance.
Onwuka therefore urged media practitioners and public officers alike to focus on factual, objective, and development-oriented messaging that strengthens democracy and promotes good governance.
