An indigene of Amoli in Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State, Hon. Ginika Florence Tor, has been appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a member of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission (NSIWC), representing the South-East.
Tor’s appointment was among 26 fresh appointments into 10 federal government agencies and commissions approved by the President. The appointments, which take immediate effect, were announced on Monday in a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga.
Her appointment places the former Federal Commissioner representing Enugu State at the Federal Character Commission (FCC) among those responsible for formulating and reviewing policies on salaries, wages and income administration for public sector workers across Nigeria.
For Enugu State, particularly the people of Awgu Local Government Area, the appointment is seen as another significant recognition of one of the state’s prominent political figures at the federal level.
Before her latest appointment, Tor served as the Federal Commissioner representing Enugu State at the Federal Character Commission from 2020 to 2025, having been appointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari. During her tenure, she represented the state’s interests on issues relating to equity and federal appointments.
She currently serves as the Principal Liaison Officer to the Deputy National Chairman (South) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Benjamin Obiora Nwoye, a position she assumed in April 2026.
As the South-East representative on the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, Tor will work alongside other members of the commission in advising the Federal Government on wage structures and income policies for public servants. Other newly appointed members include Dr. Mai Adamu Yau (Borno), Engr. Lawrence Okoh (Edo) and Bello Morenike Iyabode (Kogi).
President Tinubu also reconstituted the leadership of the commission with the appointment of retired Major General Junaid Bindawa as Chairman, while Dr. Ogbole Ene Lilian (Benue), Oladele Olatubosun (Oyo) and Yakubu Umar Barde (Kaduna) were appointed as commissioners. Former member of the House of Representatives, Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas, was named Secretary of the commission.
The appointments formed part of a broader reshuffle across key federal agencies, with the President approving new leadership for institutions including the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), National Population Commission (NPC), Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc (NBET), Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission, Fiscal Responsibility Commission and the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM).
