The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has approved the promotion of 3,592 civil servants following the successful completion of the 2025 promotion exercise conducted by the FCT Civil Service Commission.
Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Emeka Ezeh, announced the development, describing it as part of activities marking the third anniversary of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
The promotions come after the commissioning and flag-off of more than 30 projects across the FCT between June 8 and July 17, 2026, to commemorate the President’s third year in office.
Ezeh said the exercise reflects the Federal Capital Territory Administration’s commitment to improving staff welfare in line with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to him, promotion examinations for senior officers were held between July 1 and July 3, while junior officers sat for their examinations on July 10.
He commended Wike for providing the necessary support that enabled the commission to successfully carry out its statutory responsibilities.
The commission chairman also disclosed that the minister has directed the immediate commencement of the 2026 promotion exercise to ensure that eligible officers are promoted promptly without unnecessary delays.
“Under this administration, it is a priority that FCT workers get promoted as and when due. This is to complement the tremendous work that the FCT Minister is doing in infrastructural development of the Territory, and for us, the workers will not be left out in the celebrations marking the third anniversary of Mr President,” Ezeh said.
He noted that the directive underscores the administration’s determination to match ongoing infrastructural transformation in the nation’s capital with improved staff welfare and career progression for civil servants.
Ezeh added that the initiative would ensure FCT workers also benefit from the achievements recorded under the Tinubu administration.
The commission chairman praised civil servants for their orderly conduct throughout the 2025 promotion exercise and urged those expected to participate in the 2026 exercise to maintain the same level of discipline and professionalism.
He also appreciated the leadership of the Joint Union Action Committee (JUAC) for its cooperation, which he said contributed significantly to the smooth conduct of the promotion exercise.
Ezeh advised prospective candidates for the 2026 exercise to begin preparations early, reminding them that promotions in the FCT Civil Service are merit-based, highly competitive and dependent on the availability of vacancies.
