Former Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, has been thrown into mourning following the death of her husband, Anthony Adeniyi Adeosun, who passed away in Lagos on Tuesday at the age of 62.

The Adeosun family announced his passing in a statement released on Thursday, describing his death as a painful loss while expressing total submission to the will of God.

The statement, signed by Reverend C. A. Adeosun on behalf of the family, said Anthony Adeosun died on August 5 after a life dedicated to God, his family, and service to humanity.

“With profound sorrow, yet in total submission to the will of Almighty God, we announce the passing of our beloved Anthony Adeniyi Adeosun (Niyi),” the statement read.

The family described the late businessman as a distinguished entrepreneur and devoted Christian whose life was defined by integrity, generosity, unwavering faith, and a strong commitment to family and community.

According to the statement, Anthony Adeosun earned the admiration and respect of many through his exemplary character, diligence, and dedication to serving both God and humanity.

“Niyi was a distinguished businessman and a devoted Christian whose integrity, generosity, and steadfast faith touched the lives of all who knew him.

“He lived a life defined by hard work, service to God, and an unwavering commitment to his family and community,” the family stated.

He is survived by his wife, former Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun, their children, siblings, and an extended family that includes renowned investment executive Adewale Adeosun, founder of Kuramo Capital.

The family said it was comforted by its Christian faith and belief in eternal life, citing Revelation 14:13, which reads: “Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord… that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.”

While appealing for privacy during this difficult period, the family disclosed that details of the funeral and Christian burial arrangements would be announced in due course.

It also expressed gratitude to friends, associates, and well-wishers for their prayers, condolences, and support since news of his passing became known.

“We thank all who have reached out with prayers, condolences, and support. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace in the bosom of the Lord,” the statement added.

Kemi Adeosun served as Nigeria’s Minister of Finance from 2015 to 2018 during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari. Her husband was widely regarded by family, friends, and associates as a man of faith whose legacy was reflected in his commitment to service, integrity, and compassion.
