The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has ordered the immediate closure of the Abuja secretariat belonging to the dissolved Ad Hoc Committee on the Sale of Federal Government Houses.

The directive was issued following reports that the defunct body continued its operations and administrative functions despite having been formally dissolved by the government. Minister Wike emphasized that any further activities carried out under the banner of the former committee are unauthorized, illegal, and in direct violation of official executive orders.

To enforce the closure, the FCT Administration deployed security personnel to seal off the premises located in the nation’s capital, effectively halting all ongoing transactions, file processing, and public dealings at the facility.

Authorities revealed that the committee’s mandate had long expired, making its continued occupancy and administrative operations in the government facility unlawful. The minister warned members of the public to desist from engaging in any business, financial payments, or property negotiations with individuals claiming to represent the disbanded committee, stressing that the administration will not recognize any transactions executed through the illicit office.

Furthermore, Wike signaled that a thorough investigation into the activities of the defunct committee during its period of unauthorized operation would be conducted to ascertain whether public funds or government assets were compromised. Security agencies have been instructed to monitor the site to prevent unauthorized access and to apprehend anyone attempting to reopen or operate from the sealed secretariat.

The step reflects the FCT Administration’s broader push to clean up land and housing administrative processes in Abuja, enforce executive directives strictly, and eliminate parallel or illegal structures attempting to manage government assets.
