Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have arrested former Imo State Governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha, during an operation at the REIZ Continental Hotel located in the Central Business District of Abuja.
The arrest follows an ongoing criminal investigation centered on serious allegations of criminal conspiracy, forgery, and impersonation. According to law enforcement sources, Okorocha had earlier been invited to report to the Force Headquarters in Abuja on September 2, 2026.
Although the appearance date was subsequently rescheduled to September 8 following a formal request by his legal team, the former governor failed to honour the invitation. His repeated failure to report prompted authorities to secure a judicial warrant to compel his attendance and facilitate further questioning.
The former governor remains in police custody as investigators proceed with inquiries into the allegations. Representatives for Okorocha have not yet issued an official statement regarding the circumstances surrounding his arrest.
