Wike, Soludo, Adeleke Join APC’s Revised 2027 Presidential Campaign Council

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has included Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike; Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke; and Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, in its revised presidential campaign council ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The appointments have attracted attention because the three politicians belong to different political parties. Wike is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Soludo belongs to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), while Adeleke won re-election as Osun governor in 2026 under the Accord Party.

Under the revised arrangement, Wike will coordinate the APC’s presidential campaign in Rivers State and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Soludo will oversee campaign activities in Anambra State, while Adeleke will coordinate the party’s campaign in Osun State.

President Bola Tinubu is expected to inaugurate the expanded campaign council at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday.

Tinubu, Shettima to Lead Campaign Council

President Tinubu, the APC’s presidential candidate, will serve as chairman of the campaign council, with Vice-President Kashim Shettima as vice-chairman. APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has also been named a vice-chairman.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq have been appointed deputy vice-chairmen.

Former Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari will serve as Director-General of the council, while Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin and Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu are among those appointed deputy directors-general.

Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma will serve as secretary of the council, supported by Senator Ajibola Basiru as deputy secretary and Hadiza Bala Usman as assistant secretary.

Governors, Party Leaders Assigned Campaign Roles

The revised structure assigns campaign responsibilities across the country’s six geopolitical zones, with governors and other political figures appointed to coordinate mobilisation and outreach.

Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has been named South-East campaign coordinator, alongside Tjeoma Arodiogbu as co-coordinator.

Other appointments include Governor Bassey Otu and Victor Giadom for the South-South, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Prince Oladiran Iyantan for the South-West, and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani and Garba Datti Muhammad for the North-West.

The campaign council also includes former governors and senior political figures as advisers. They include former APC national chairmen Adebisi Akande and Abdullahi Adamu, former Ogun State governors Ibikunle Amosun and Segun Osoba, former Osun State Governor Iyiola Omisore, Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, and Wale Edun.

Additional directorates have been established to oversee election planning, coordination, monitoring, mobilisation, logistics and operations.

APC Expands Campaign Structure Ahead of 2027

The revised list follows the initial campaign council announced by the APC in August, which named Abdulaziz Yari as Director-General and assigned several senior party leaders key campaign responsibilities.

The expanded arrangement introduces additional appointments and adjusts responsibilities across the party’s national leadership, state structures and mobilisation teams.

The council is expected to coordinate the APC’s nationwide campaign, strengthen engagement with political stakeholders and mobilise support for Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

The inclusion of politicians from outside the APC highlights the party’s effort to broaden its political alliances ahead of the next general election.
