There has been an attack on the Nigeria’s biggest online betting platform, BET9ja.
This information is likely to come as a shock to many Nigerians who are loyal customers to the platform.
The administration of Bet9ja disclosed that the site has been hacked.

This was revealed by Bet9ja through a post in which they accused Russian programmers of having a hand in it and that is because the software used in hacking the site was written in Russian language.
These Russian programmers are well known for hijacking sites of gigantic organizations.

Bet9ja originally reported that they were experiencing some issues with the site on Wednesday, April 6, on its verified Twitter handle.

According to Bet9ja company, its customers were not able to login into their accounts.
The attack was however Confirmed, on Thursday, April 7.
The firm announced that it had become a victim of a cyber-attack. Meanwhile, the firm added that its customers funds are secured.
According to the Founder, OluGbenga Odeyemi, Bet9ja’s attack is likely to become common place with other companies if proactive steps are not taken.

The gaming website have assured their customers that all hands are on deck to make sure that the website gets back to it’s feet again.

they assured that dedicated stakers will be fully compensated when the webpage is restored.

Reliable reports has it that the programmers have started to target Nigerian sites and that Bet9ja happens to be their first victim.

This is coming after the United States said it secretly removed malware from computer networks around the globe in recent weeks, in its bid to pre-empt Russian cyber attacks. 

This has once again proven the weakness in most of these online businesses. One mistake and it is hijacked.
