Plateau State Police Command Warns Suspected Hoodlums Planning to Invade State Assembly Complex
Plateau State Police Command Warns Suspected Hoodlums Planning to Invade State Assembly Complex: The Plateau State Police Command has issued a warning to suspected hoodlums who are allegedly planning to
forcefully gain access into the House of Assembly complex with the intention of causing mayhem.
In a statement released yesterday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Alfred Alabo, revealed
that credible intelligence had uncovered plans by some “enemies of the state” to invade the Assembly
Complex and cause destruction to life and property.
The Commissioner of Police, Bartholomew Onyeka, upon receiving the information, immediately tightened
security around the Assembly Complex to prevent the attack. The statement urged anyone with the intention
of fomenting trouble around the House of Assembly or any part of the state to desist from such or be ready
to face the full wrath of the law when apprehended.
The police boss also called on parents and guardians to caution their children and wards not to allow
themselves to be used by selfish persons to perpetrate evil capable of distorting the peace enjoyed in the state.
He urged the peace-loving residents of Plateau to continue to give useful and timely information to the
command to enable the police to respond quickly to distress calls from the public.
the warning
Furthermore, the police boss assured everyone that the police force would do everything within its power to
sustain peace in the Plateau. This warning comes at a time when the country is facing increasing security threats, particularly in the northern region of Nigeria.
It is essential to note that the Plateau State House of Assembly has been embroiled in a leadership crisis
that has persisted for several months. In November 2022, two factions emerged in the House of Assembly,
with one faction claiming to be the authentic leadership of the Assembly. Since then, the House has been characterized by several controversial events, including the impeachment of the Speaker and other principal
officers, as well as allegations of corruption and mismanagement.
The Plateau State Government has been working to resolve the crisis and restore normalcy to the House.
However, the recent threat by suspected hoodlums to invade the Assembly Complex poses a significant challenge to the peace process.
