Protest erupts as gunmen kill miners in Jos: Gunmen attacked miners in Turu community in Jos South

Local Government Area of Plateau State on Tuesday night, resulting in their deaths. The latest victims

were reported to be carrying out their activities when the gunmen struck. This incident has triggered

protests from youths in various communities in the area, who blocked the Jos-Abuja highway, leaving

commuters stranded on the road.

This attack on the miners comes just two days after gunmen killed seven people in separate attacks that

occurred in Wereng and Heipang communities of Riyom and Barkin Ladi local government areas,

respectively. The spate of violence has caused growing concern among residents and stakeholders,

who are calling on the government to do more to protect the lives and property of Nigerians.

Dachung Bagos, the lawmaker representing Jos South and Jos East federal constituency in the National Assembly, confirmed the latest killing in a statement on Wednesday. Bagos expressed his disappointment over the renewed attacks on communities in Plateau State by suspected herdsmen. He urged the government to intervene and stop further attacks on the communities.

Bagos called on federal security agencies to come to the aid of the hapless citizens and provide them with security. He also urged citizens in the affected areas to be law-abiding and avoid taking the law into their own hands while remaining vigilant at all times.

According to Bagos, those killed in the latest attack include Ishaya David, 25, from Tana; Paul Adamu from Dangyuruk, 23; Bitrus Mancha from Dantou, 43; Davou Boyi from Dawurum, 40; Joseph John from Dawurum, 39; and Timothy Peter, 35. The lawmaker wondered how criminals could beat security agents to perpetrate these heinous acts and vanish into thin air without any resistance.
