Despite Supreme Court judgment dismissing the party’s suit against Bola Tinubu Atiku expresses confidence in his ongoing legal battle

Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 election, remains undeterred despite the recent Supreme Court judgment dismissing the party’s suit against Bola Tinubu, the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Atiku expressed confidence in his ongoing legal battle, emphasizing that the judgment is not a setback in his quest for justice.

The Supreme Court ruling came in response to a suit filed by the PDP, seeking the disqualification of Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his running mate, Kashim Shettima, on grounds of alleged double nomination during the 2023 general election. However, the court held that the PDP, as a party not affiliated with the APC, lacked the legal standing to institute the suit. Justice Adamu Jauro, who read the judgment, regarded the PDP’s involvement as meddling in the internal affairs of another party.

In addition to dismissing the case, the apex court also imposed a fine of two million naira (N2 million) against the PDP. Despite this setback, Atiku remains resolute in his pursuit of justice and the establishment of a new order in Nigerian democracy. He reaffirmed his commitment to proving that the February 25 election was marred by fraud and non-compliance with constitutional requirements and electoral guidelines set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Atiku further contended that the proclaimed winner of the election was not even qualified to run for office.

With his legal team prepared to present a robust case at the Presidential Elections Petition Tribunal in Abuja, Atiku stressed that he will not walk away from the battle for democracy and rescuing Nigeria. Recognizing the country’s current crossroads, he emphasized the importance of upholding the principles of justice and ensuring the nation’s growth and development. Atiku urged his supporters to exercise patience and maintain peaceful conduct as the litigation processes continues, he reassures his supporters of good legal battle and urged them to have faith in the judiciary.
