…assures them of Local government’s commitment to their welfare and security at the NYSC orientation camp in Awgu
The Awgu Local Government Council, under the leadership of Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo, has today welcomed the 2025 Batch A Stream II members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to the region.
The swearing-in ceremony was held at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Awgu and was graced by notable figures such as Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, who represented the Governor, and Hon. Barr. Lloyd Ike Ekweremadu, the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports.
During his keynote address, Prof. Onyia, standing in for the Executive Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, highlighted the significance of the NYSC scheme in fostering national unity, community development, and sustainable progress.
“The NYSC scheme serves as a platform for our youth to engage in the development of our nation,” stated Prof. Onyia. “I encourage you to wholeheartedly embrace your assignments and make meaningful contributions to your host communities.”
Hon. Uchenna Okolo, the Chairman of the Awgu Local Government Council, reassured the corps members of the local government’s dedication to their welfare, security, and integration into the community.
“We are pleased to welcome you to Awgu LGA, and we are committed to making your time with us both memorable and impactful,” remarked Hon. Okolo. “We invite you to discover our rich cultural heritage, interact with our residents, and play your part in the advancement of our community.”
The NYSC scheme is a compulsory one-year national service program for graduates in Nigeria. The Batch A Stream II corps members are anticipated to participate in a three-week orientation program prior to their deployment to their respective places of primary assignment.
