As of March 4, 2024, the tenure of the Chairman and Councillors across all 17 Local Government Areas in Enugu State has officially concluded. Per the directive, all Council Chairmen are mandated to transfer responsibilities to the Head of Personnel Management (HPM) within their respective areas starting today.
This transition adheres to the established legal framework governing the tenure of elected officials within our Local Government Council Areas as stated by Hon. Okey Ogbodo, the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government, Rural Development and Chieftaincy Affairs.
The Tenure of the Chairman and Councillors of the 17 Local Government Areas in Enugu State, formally come to an end on the 4th of March, 2024.
Consequently, all the Council Chairmen are expected handover to the Head of Personnel Management (HPM) in each Local Government, with effect from today, the 4th of March, 2024.
This is in line with the extant laws guiding tenure-ship of elected Chairmen and Councillors in our Local Government Council Areas.
