Burna Boy Makes Spotify History as ‘Dai Dai’ Tops Global Music Video Chart

Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has become the first male artiste to top Spotify’s newly launched Global Music Video Chart, further cementing his status as one of Africa’s biggest music exports.

Burna Boy achieved the milestone with ‘Dai Dai,’ his FIFA World Cup collaboration with Colombian singer Shakira, making him not only the first male artiste but also the first African artist to reach the number one spot on the platform’s new global chart.

The achievement adds to the song’s growing international success. This week, ‘Dai Dai’ climbed to a new peak of No. 13 on the Billboard Hot 100, with industry projections indicating it could break into the top 10 following Burna Boy and Shakira’s performance at the FIFA World Cup Final Halftime Show on Sunday.

The song has also emerged as the most-streamed music video of 2026 on YouTube, amassing nearly 500 million views, while previously reaching No. 1 on the Apple Music Global Songs Chart.

The success of ‘Dai Dai’ has further strengthened Burna Boy’s dominance on global streaming platforms.

The Grammy-winning singer has extended his record as the African artiste with the highest monthly listeners in Spotify history, attracting more than 53 million monthly listeners on the platform.

He has also set another milestone on YouTube Music, becoming the African artiste with the highest monthly audience after surpassing 600 million monthly listeners.

The latest achievements reinforce Burna Boy’s growing global influence and underscore the increasing international appeal of Afrobeats on major streaming platforms.
