CSOs Condemn Invasion of NLC Headquarters
CSOs Condemn Invasion of NLC Headquarters: Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) have strongly condemned the recent invasion of the Nigeria Labour Congress
(NLC) headquarters by security operatives, describing it as a desperate
attempt to silence Nigerians and a return to dictatorial tactics.
The invasion, which occurred on Wednesday night, has been widely
criticized as an attack on democratic principles and a misuse of power.
Auwal Musa Rafsanjani, Executive Director of the Civil Society
Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) and Head of Transparency International (TI) Nigeria,
stated that the government’s actions were misguided and prioritized
personal vendettas over addressing critical issues affecting the nation.
He emphasized that the security agencies should be targeting terrorists, bandits, and criminal looters instead of raiding the NLC headquarters.

Rafsanjani also warned that the actions of the security agencies were
undermining President Tinubu’s administration, making him unpopular
with Nigerians and the international community. He urged President Tinubu
to take action to save his image and that of his government.
Similarly, Dr. Zikirullahi Ibrahim, Executive Director of the Resource
Centre for Human Rights and Civic Education (CHRICED), warned
that the country was almost returning to a full-blown dictatorship,
with the government using iron-fist tactics to suppress dissenting voices.
He criticized the government’s hypocrisy in calling for dialogue while
clamping down on dissenting voices.
The invasion of the NLC headquarters has been seen as a blatant attempt
to silence Nigerians and suppress their right to express their grievances.
The CSOs have called on President Tinubu to take immediate action to
address the situation and ensure that the rights of Nigerians are protected.
the spark
The incident has sparked widespread outrage and concern among Nigerians,
who fear that the country is sliding back into dictatorship. The CSOs have vowed to continue speaking out against such actions and to hold the government accountable for its actions.
