Africa’s richest man and President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has revealed that he has lived in his current home for 36 years, saying he is comfortable with his residence and has no plans to move.

Dangote made the disclosure during an interview with ARISE News on Tuesday, where he spoke about his lifestyle, business interests and his views on wealth and investment. 

The billionaire businessman said he preferred the comfort of his home and rarely felt the need to go out after returning in the evening.

“You know how long I’ve been here? Thirty-six years. I don’t plan on leaving. I’m very comfortable here,” Dangote said.

He added, “Once I come in in the evening, it’s difficult to take me out of my house.”

Dangote also criticised what he described as the spending habits of some wealthy Africans, particularly those who acquire expensive private jets without investing in productive ventures.

“What I see is people now owning aircraft all over the place, flying all over, and they don’t have one single factory,” he said.

The industrialist has repeatedly advocated greater investment in manufacturing and productive sectors, arguing that wealth should be channelled into ventures capable of creating jobs, strengthening local production and contributing to economic development.

His latest comments came amid renewed attention on his business empire following the commencement of the public offering of shares in Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals.

Dangote said his lifestyle had remained relatively simple despite his wealth, stressing the importance of focusing on productive investments rather than excessive luxury.
