Fake Customs Recruitment Alert: NCS Warns Nigerians Against Job Scam

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has dismissed a recruitment advertisement circulating on social media, describing it as fraudulent and warning criminals to stop exploiting unsuspecting job seekers through fake employment offers.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Service advised members of the public to disregard the purported recruitment exercise, stressing that it did not originate from the Nigeria Customs Service.

The NCS urged Nigerians to rely solely on information published through its official communication channels for authentic updates on its activities, including recruitment exercises.

According to the Service, recruitment scams have become increasingly common across the country, with fraudsters taking advantage of the high demand for government jobs by circulating fake advertisements and demanding money from unsuspecting applicants.

“Recruitment scams have become a recurring challenge in Nigeria, with fraudsters often exploiting public interest in government jobs by circulating fake advertisements and soliciting money from unsuspecting applicants,” the statement read.

The Service noted that security agencies and government institutions have consistently warned Nigerians against engaging with unofficial recruitment notices, urging citizens to verify information before acting on or sharing it.

It reiterated that any genuine recruitment exercise by the Nigeria Customs Service would be announced only through its official platforms.

“Members of the public are advised to disregard the publication and rely only on information disseminated through the official communication channels of the Nigeria Customs Service,” the statement added.

The Service also cautioned fraudsters against using its name to deceive members of the public, reaffirming its commitment to protecting Nigerians from recruitment-related scams.
