The Nigerian Guild of Editors has commended the infrastructure and development projects executed by the Enugu State Government under Governor Peter Mbah, following a tour of several projects across the state.

The editors made the assessment during the 2026 All Nigerian Editors Conference after touring major projects and holding an interactive session with Mbah at the Government House in Enugu. More than 300 editors, senior media executives and veterans attended the conference. 

President of the NGE, Eze Anaba, said the projects inspected demonstrated the potential of sub-national governments to deploy resources toward infrastructure and economic development.

“There’s solid infrastructure on the ground that will grow the economy, that will expand the state,” Anaba said, citing the Enugu International Hospital, road projects, Hotel Presidential, Smart Schools, the Ngwo Pines tourism complex, the Integrated Livestock Hub and the Command and Control Centre among projects visited by the editors. 

He also highlighted the 40-kilometre Owo-Ubahu-Amankanu-Umualor-Ikem dual carriageway, describing the range of projects as evidence of significant investment in infrastructure.

Anaba further commended the peer-review approach among some state governments, noting that states could learn from policies and projects implemented successfully elsewhere.

Speaking at the conference’s closing gala, former Ogun State Governor and media veteran, Chief Segun Osoba, also praised Enugu’s security infrastructure and urged other states to emulate the state’s use of technology in tackling insecurity. 

Responding, Mbah thanked the editors for taking time to inspect the projects, saying the administration’s investments in security, transportation, tourism and other sectors were interconnected and designed to support economic growth.

He said the government’s broader objective was to grow the state’s economy, reduce poverty and create an environment where people could live, work, invest and build their futures. 

The governor had earlier urged the editors at the conference to independently assess the projects and speak with residents rather than relying solely on official claims.
