The Oyo State Police Command has dismissed reports circulating online that abducted students, pupils, and teachers in Orire Local Government Area have been rescued, stating that security operations are still actively ongoing.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the command confirmed that efforts by security agencies remain in full swing to secure the safe release of the victims and track down those responsible for the kidnapping.
The police described the reports of a rescue as false and urged members of the public to disregard such claims, stressing the importance of patience and cooperation as joint security teams continue their operations.
According to the statement, residents are encouraged to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information, as doing so could disrupt ongoing rescue efforts and create unnecessary tension within affected communities.
The command further warned that the circulation of fake news could hinder security operations by causing panic and diverting attention and resources needed for the mission.
It reassured the public that credible and verified updates would be communicated as the situation develops, adding that anyone seeking accurate information should contact the Police Public Relations Officer or the command’s control room.
