PDP Primaries: Aspirants Compete To Outspend One Another To Sway Delegates, Each delegate gets over $50, 000

Reports from the venue of the ongoing Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primaries in Abuja have indicated that the frontline presidential aspirants of the party including former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar; Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike; former Senate President, Bukola Saraki; Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, among others, are allegedly in fierce competition to outspend one another on the delegates that will finally chose the party’s flag bearer.

According to the report from the PDP special convention, each delegate has been given over $50, 000 in “bribe” to secure their vote for particular aspirants.

The PDP 811 delegates consist of one national delegate elected from each of the 774 local government areas and one special delegate per state and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) from among persons living with disabilities.

In a situation like this, the ticket normally goes to the highest bidder. For now, Nigerians are watching and waiting for the final outcome of the monetized PDP primaries.
