31 people have reportedly died in a stampede at the Port Harcourt Polo Club during a massive rush to get giveaways from Kings Assembly International Church’s Free shopping program.

The Church program ‘Shop for Free,’ was organized to help the less privileged in the society get gifts and other items free of charge.

According to eyewitnesses, thousands of people had gathered at the venue as early as 2:00 am and were trying to force their way into the premises resulting in the deadly stampede.
