The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially announced the schedule for its much-anticipated elective National Convention, set to take place on November 15 and 16, 2025. This announcement was made through a statement released by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Umar Bature, outlining important dates for various stages of the convention process.
As part of preparations, the party has set September 3 to September 22 as the period during which aspirants can obtain and submit their nomination and expression of interest forms. Those who pick up the forms must ensure they are completed and returned by September 26, which is the firm deadline.
The PDP has also outlined key dates for screening and candidate verification. On September 30, all aspirants will be screened, and those who successfully pass through this stage will be publicly announced on October 3. For any aspirants who wish to appeal the outcome of the screening, the party has designated October 6 for handling such appeals.
Moving closer to the main event, the final list of cleared candidates will be published on October 10, officially paving the way for the main convention. The National Convention, where new national officers of the party will be elected, will take place on November 15 and 16. After the elections, the transition of leadership within the party will occur between December 1 and 8, as the newly elected officers assume their responsibilities.
All these decisions were approved during the party’s101st National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting. The city of Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, has been chosen as the venue for this major political event, marking another milestone in the PDP’s democratic processes and internal governance.
