A recent report has indicated that at least seven Nigerian soldiers have been killed following an ambush on the convoy of the commanding officer of the 93 Army Battalion, Takum, Taraba State on Tuesday by gunmen suspected to be terrorists.
Military sources told reporters that the Brigadier General was on his way to Jalingo when the incident happened. There were initial report that the “whereabouts of the senior military officer and his orderly are unknown hours after the attack,” however, another source has been quoted as stating that it was not certain if the “Brigadier General was in the convoy” but that his official vehicle was among those attacked.
There has been steady increase in the spate of terrorist attacks especially against military personnel in the North in recent months. Although the federal government has claimed it is winning the war against terrorism, there is little or no evidence on ground to show that terrorist attacks is abetting especially up North.
