Youths in Umuadara, located in the Umulogho community of Obowo Local Government Area, have reportedly arrested a suspect in connection with the murder of Wendy Achumba, a student of the College of Nursing, Obowo.

According to sources within the community, the operation was coordinated by the youth leader, Chidiebere Iweajunwa, after local youths carried out their own investigation into the incident.
The suspect, identified as Onyema Okonkwo, was allegedly traced and apprehended after a video interview said to contain a confession surfaced online.
Community members disclosed that the suspect allegedly stated in the video that he and another individual identified only as Emmanuel visited the victim’s residence on the day the incident occurred.
Sources explained that the nursing student had been staying alone in the apartment at the time because the two other occupants had temporarily travelled for their nursing practical programme.
“She was alone in the apartment because the other students had left for their practical training,” a source from the community reportedly said.
In the circulating video, the suspect was alleged to have admitted that the victim was assaulted before she was eventually killed.
Following his arrest, the suspect was handed over to the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation and possible prosecution.
As of the time the report was filed, the spokesperson of the police command, Henry Okoye, had not issued any official response regarding the development.
