Makinde Declares 2027 Presidential Ambition, Unveils PDP-APM Alliance for Nigeria’s “Reset”

Seyi Makinde has officially announced his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election, declaring that Nigeria urgently needs a fresh direction and national renewal.

Makinde made the declaration on Thursday during a mega rally organised to unveil a political alliance between the Peoples Democratic Party and the Allied Peoples’ Movement.

The Oyo State governor expressed concern over the worsening living conditions of many Nigerians, stating that citizens could no longer afford to remain passive observers in the nation’s affairs.

According to him, democracy cannot thrive without a vibrant multi-party system, adding that Nigerians must begin to actively participate in shaping the country’s future.

Makinde said the opposition had been weakened by internal divisions, but stressed that the real opposition should be ordinary Nigerians seeking better governance and improved living standards.

He called on citizens to rise and confront the nation’s challenges directly, insisting that the time had come for Nigerians to become active participants in the democratic process rather than spectators.

The governor also urged opposition parties across the country to put aside their differences and unite in order to deliver what he described as the much-needed reset for Nigeria.

Speaking on the new alliance, Makinde described Ibadan as a city known for courage and resilience, adding that the partnership between the PDP and APM marked the beginning of a broader political coalition.

He explained that the alliance would present candidates for various elective positions, ranging from the presidency to seats in state assemblies across the country.

Declaring his ambition before supporters at the rally, Makinde formally announced that he would contest for the office of President of Nigeria in the 2027 general election.
