Governor Otti Unveils Plans for New Local Governments, Road Repairs, and Potable Water Projects in Abia State

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to creating additional Local Government Areas (LGAs) to enhance administrative efficiency and improve service delivery across the state. Speaking on Friday at Awomukwu High School, Ikwuano LGA, during a civic reception organized by the Awomukwu Think Tank Forum, the governor emphasized that restructuring the state’s administrative framework is a priority.

The event honored two distinguished sons of the community: Dr. Monday Ubani, recently elevated to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), and Chief Davidson S.C. Alaribe, the 60th (Diamond) President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN). In his remarks, Governor Otti highlighted the need for governance to transcend party politics and pledged to collaborate with all political leaders to advance the state.

Responding to a request from Ikwuano residents to repair the Ariam-Usaka Road, the governor revealed that it has been included in the proposed 2025 Federal Budget. He assured the audience of his commitment to ensuring the road project is funded and completed promptly.

Governor Otti also unveiled plans for a statewide potable water project in 2025. Using newly acquired industrial drilling rigs, the initiative aims to provide pipe-borne water to communities through a direct labor policy similar to ongoing road construction efforts.

Encouraging the youth, the governor shared his humble beginnings and those of Chief Alaribe, urging them to believe in themselves, work hard, and pursue their dreams. He congratulated the celebrants on their achievements, expressing confidence in their potential for greater accomplishments.

Senator Austine Akobundu, representing Abia Central, commended the governor’s leadership and affirmed his commitment to collaborating with the state government to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of Abia.
