Defence Minister Expresses Confidence in APC Victory, Predicting Tinubu Will Win Kaduna and Retain Presidency in 2027

Nigeria’s Minister of Defence General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has dismissed speculations of a political shift in Northern Nigeria, projecting that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) will easily win Kaduna State and secure re-election in the 2027 presidential polls.

His remarks were made in direct response to political commentators and prominent opposition figures, such as Rabiu Kwankwaso and Peter Obi, who recently argued that the ruling party’s extensive regional presence would not shield it from defeat. Opposition voices have repeatedly suggested that public dissatisfaction with economic pressures and localized security challenges could prompt voters in northern strongholds like Kaduna to vote out the ruling administration.

Addressing these political assessments, General Musa described the narrative of widespread northern opposition to President Tinubu as a matter of personal opinion rather than a structural political trend. He observed that citizens naturally possess mixed viewpoints regarding any government’s record, noting that every administration encounters favorable, critical, and neutral assessments from the electorate. Furthermore, he argued that certain individuals seeking political leverage were intentionally exaggerating public frustration over personal grievances to create a false impression of regional rejection against the APC.

When questioned on whether electoral setbacks remained a possibility for the ruling party in Kaduna State, General Musa remained resolute, insisting that an APC defeat in the state was out of the question. He maintained that the party’s platform and achievements would ensure a clean sweep across all contestable offices, confirming that his confidence extends to the executive governorship, legislative seats, and the overall presidential ballot in Kaduna.
