Nigeria’s Ambassador to the Hellenic Republic, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi, has formally presented his Letters of Credence to the President of the Hellenic Republic, Mr. Constantine An. Tassoulas.
Ugwuanyi presented the letters on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at a ceremony held at the Presidential Mansion in Athens, Greece.
The ceremony was attended by the Greek Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Tasos Chatzivasileiou; Secretary-General of the Presidency of the Hellenic Republic, Ambassador Aliki Chatzi; Chief of Protocol, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Dimitrios Zevelakis; Director of the Military Office of the Presidency of the Hellenic Republic, Vice Admiral Efthymios Mikros; and Director of the Diplomatic Office of the Presidency of the Hellenic Republic, Ambassador Eleni Goulousi.
During his audience with President Tassoulas, Ambassador Ugwuanyi conveyed the warm greetings of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, as well as those of the Government and people of Nigeria.
He reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening the longstanding friendship and cooperation between Nigeria and Greece.
Ugwuanyi said his diplomatic mission would be guided by Nigeria’s foreign policy priorities under the 4Ds framework — Democracy, Development, Demography and Diaspora.
He expressed his commitment to deepening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation between both countries, particularly in trade and investment, shipping and the Blue Economy, energy, tourism, education and cultural diplomacy.
The ambassador also emphasised the importance of strengthening people-to-people ties between Nigeria and Greece, while exploring new areas of mutually beneficial cooperation.
He further pledged to work closely with the Greek government throughout his tenure to identify and develop new opportunities for collaboration between the two countries.
Ugwuanyi’s presentation of his Letters of Credence formally marks the commencement of his diplomatic engagement as Nigeria’s ambassador to the Hellenic Republic.
