Former Presidential Candidate of the National Conscience Party (NCP), during the 2015 General Election, Chief Engr. Martin Onovo, on Saturday said he had no advice for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as the party prepares to hold its presidential primaries on Monday and Tuesday, because the APC government is a total disaster.
Chief Onovo, made the assertion on Freedom Square, a weekly interactive radio program on 100.9 FM, Enugu, anchored by Hon. Uchenna Cyril Anioke, PhD., which x-rayed the current political developments in Nigeria and the stand of the South East geo political zone.
The former presidential candidate’s stance came with a backdrop of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s choice of Atiku Abubakar as its presidential candidate in disregard of the rotation principle that favors picking a candidate from the South East. Chief Onovo, although disappointed with the PDP, says APC is not an alternative either.
In his words:
“I will not advise APC because I do not agree with their leadership, policy, and so on. In 2015 when APC started, I gave an interview that it seems clear APC has deliberate agenda to destroy the country. How can you undermine your armed forces, your economy, and people say how can you say that? Today it has happened.”
He pointed to the ugly economic situation of the country whereby 90 percent of the country’s entire revenue is being used to service debt. He also made reference to the global corruption perception index accusing the APC government of having perpetrated the worst level of corruption ever. He said he does not blame APC rather he blames Nigerians who have agreed to self-destruct adding that anybody who supports APC must have psychiatric problems.
