French President Emmanuel Macron hosted President Bola Tinubu to a private dinner at the Élysée Palace in Paris on Thursday, with both leaders reaffirming their commitment to strengthening relations between Nigeria and France.

The meeting was disclosed by Tinubu and his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in separate posts on Friday.

Tinubu described the dinner as a pleasure and said his conversation with Macron reaffirmed the strong friendship between the two countries.

“Our conversation reaffirmed the strong friendship between Nigeria and France, as well as our shared commitment to deepening cooperation and building a mutually beneficial partnership between our two nations,” the President said.

He also thanked Macron for his hospitality and friendship. 

Onanuga said the meeting reflected the enduring relationship between Nigeria and France and their shared commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation. 

The engagement took place during the second phase of Tinubu’s three-week working vacation in Europe. He had earlier spent part of his leave in London before travelling to France.
