Nigeria makes strides in economy and security: The United Nations has acknowledged the significant progress made by Nigeria under the Tinubu administration in the last year, particularly in the areas of economic stabilization and security. UN Deputy Secretary-General, Hajiya Amina Mohammed, praised the government’s efforts to address security challenges and improve the economy, citing initiatives such as the nationwide digital literacy program and expansion of broadband infrastructure.

The British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Dr. Richard Montgomery, also expressed support for the Nigerian government’s security strategies and commended President Tinubu’s focus on transparency and accountability. The Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Doris Nkiruka Uzoka-Anite, highlighted the importance of international cooperation in achieving Nigeria’s economic goals, while the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, emphasized the role of the international community in supporting Nigeria’s development agenda.

The Minister of Budget and National Planning, Alhaji Atiku Bagudu, noted that the past year has been successful despite challenges, and assured that the government is committed to renewing the hope of Nigerians. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, reiterated Nigeria’s commitment to long-lasting partnerships with the global community, while the Managing Director of the Bank of Industry, Dr. Olasupo Olusi, highlighted the transformative power of strategic partnerships in driving economic growth and inclusive development.

The event, which marked the first year anniversary of the Tinubu administration, brought together stakeholders from the international community, including the European Union Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Amb. Samuel Isopi, and the Acting Country Director of the World Bank, Nigeria. The gathering underscored the importance of international cooperation in achieving Nigeria’s development goals and highlighted the progress made by the government in the last year.
