President Tinubu Announces 30-Day National Youth Conference to Tackle Challenges Facing Nigerian Youths: President Bola Tinubu has announced a 30-day national youth conference
aimed at addressing the various challenges faced by Nigerian youths. The announcement was made during his second Independence Day broadcast in celebration of Nigeria’s 64th anniversary.
Tinubu emphasized the importance of empowering the younger generation,
noting that youths account for over 60% of Nigeria’s population. He stressed that
the future of the nation rests on the active involvement of young people
in shaping policies that affect their lives, and that their voices must be central to any future development plans.
the conference
The conference, set to be organized soon, will focus on addressing key issues such as education, employment, innovation, security, and social justice. According to Tinubu, the platform
will foster meaningful dialogue between youths from different parts of the country, encouraging collaboration and providing them with opportunities to contribute to nation-building.
He mentioned that the modalities and delegate selection process would
be designed in consultation with youth representatives to ensure inclusivity and effectiveness.
In his address, Tinubu reiterated that the government will give serious consideration to the outcomes and recommendations from the conference, incorporating them into national
policies aimed at creating a brighter future for the country. He underscored
the importance of focusing on long-term sustainability, and ensuring that youths are not only part of the conversation but also the architects of the solutions.
the issues
Beyond youth issues, the President highlighted the reforms his administration
is implementing in Nigeria’s political economy and defence sector.
He pointed to the ongoing fight against banditry and terrorism, which, if successfully combated,
would allow displaced farmers to return to their farmlands, thereby helping to curb rising food prices. Tinubu also commended the resilience of the Nigerian people, noting that despite various crises,
the country has remained united, a feat that many other nations have failed to achieve
in similar circumstances. His message centered on hope, resilience, and the promise of a better future for Nigeria through youth engagement and inclusive governance.
