As the cost of housing and rent continues to rise across Nigeria, Copen Group has unveiled its latest housing project, Spring City Estate, located in Umuchigbo, Enugu State, with a commitment to making home ownership affordable and accessible to ordinary Nigerians.

The unveiling ceremony took place on June 9, 2026, at Amadeo Event Centre, Enugu, under the theme, “A Home for Every Dream, A House for Every Pocket.” The event attracted government officials, religious leaders, housing stakeholders and prospective homeowners who gathered to witness the launch of what the developers described as a major step toward addressing the country’s housing deficit.

Speaking during the event, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Copen Group, Rev. Ugochukwu Chime, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to providing affordable housing solutions for Nigerians, particularly civil servants and low-income earners. He lamented the growing difficulty many workers face in acquiring homes through personal savings due to economic realities and rising property costs.

According to Chime, the vision behind Copen Group was inspired by lessons he learned from his mother, who was involved in mortgage financing during the 1980s. He explained that while the company was founded in 1992, it commenced full operations in 1995 and has since grown into one of the leading housing developers in the region.

He recalled that one of the company’s early landmark achievements was the delivery of the Enugu State Primary Education Board Secretariat Complex in 1999, which was commissioned during the administration of former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar. Since then, he said, the company has successfully delivered more than 3,000 housing units across different locations.

Chime stressed that the dream of making quality housing available to every Nigerian remains alive, adding that Spring City Estate was designed to provide affordable options for families seeking a secure and comfortable living environment. He encouraged prospective homeowners to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the new estate project.
The event also featured special incentives for intending subscribers, as Copen Group announced discounts on properties purchased during the unveiling ceremony. The initiative was welcomed by attendees, many of whom viewed it as an opportunity to secure homes at reduced rates.
In addition to housing development, the company highlighted its investment in human capital development through Copen Academy. Representatives of the group disclosed that the academy has trained over 30,000 Nigerian youths in technology-related skills and revealed plans to establish another training facility opposite the Amadeo Event Centre to serve residents of Enugu State.
A major highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of awards to several estate communities, including Graceland Estate, Shalom Estate and Jedidiah Premium Estate. The awards were given in recognition of their commitment to peaceful coexistence, healthy living standards and collaboration among residents.
Delivering goodwill messages, the Spiritual Director of Adoration Ministry Enugu, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, welcomed Rev. Chime as the ministry’s newest neighbour in Umuchigbo and assured him of the support and cooperation of the local community. He expressed optimism that the project would contribute positively to the development of the area and improve access to quality housing.
Other dignitaries present at the event included the Chairman of Enugu East Local Government Area, Rev. Beloved-Dan Anike; Bishop Amaechi Nwachukwu of Amazing Love Assembly; representatives of the Enugu State Housing Commission; and several prominent religious leaders and stakeholders from within and outside the state.
The unveiling of Spring City Estate is expected to further strengthen efforts aimed at reducing the housing shortage in Enugu State while providing affordable home ownership opportunities for a wider segment of the population.
