President Tinubu promises better wage

President Tinubu promises better wage: The President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Ajuri Ngelale, relayed President

Tinubu’s sentiments in a statement released on Wednesday titled ‘President Tinubu Pays Tribute

to Nigerian Workers on May Day.’ Ngelale highlighted the President’s commitment to enhancing

the welfare of all workers, citing ongoing relief programs, including wage adjustments and the upcoming

review of the minimum wage.

President Tinubu emphasized the importance of fair compensation and improved working conditions

for Nigerian workers, affirming his dedication to their well-being and success. His administration’s focus

on addressing the challenges faced by workers reflects a broader commitment to their welfare and empowerment.

the remarks

These remarks come against the backdrop of a cost-of-living crisis triggered by stringent economic

reforms implemented since Tinubu assumed office on May 29, 2023. These reforms included the removal

of subsidies on petrol and the unification of foreign exchange rates, aimed at bolstering government

finances and fostering economic growth.

While defending these measures at a recent World Economic Forum Special Meeting in Saudi Arabia, Tinubu emphasized their necessity for averting bankruptcy and repositioning the economy for sustainable growth. Despite the initial challenges and economic instability resulting from these reforms, Tinubu remains steadfast in his commitment to steering Nigeria towards a path of prosperity.

On May Day, President Tinubu expressed gratitude to Nigerian workers for their unwavering dedication to the nation’s progress and development. He commended workers across various sectors, recognizing their contributions to national cohesion and advancement.

The President’s message concluded with warm wishes for a joyous May Day celebration, acknowledging the historical significance of Workers’ Day in Nigeria, which was officially recognized as a public holiday by the Federal Government in 1981 under the administration of President Shehu Shagari.
